EPDM & BUTYL POLYMERS

EPDM rubber

Ethylene propylene diene polymethylene backbone (EPDM) is a synthetic rubber with very inert chemical properties that offers excellent weathering resistance and good all-round performance, except with fuels and oils. Vistalon™ EPDM rubber grades from ExxonMobil have a wide variety of applications in the automotive, consumer and industrial sectors. Vistalon™ EPDM rubber grades are used in seals, glass-run channels, radiators, garden and appliance hose, tubing, belts, electrical insulation, solar panel heat collectors, etc.

Butyl

Butyl rubber is a copolymer of isobutylene and a small amount of isoprene, providing for a highly saturated backbone. The primary properties of Exxon™ butyl rubber are excellent air-barrier performance, good flex fatigue and vibration damping. From inner tubes to curing bladders, butyl properties are valued across a solid range of rubber products.
