BYK-Gardner Instruments upcoming webinars

BYK-Gardner upcoming webinars to take place in November & December 2022.

Share Post:

BYK-Gardner offers monthly WEBseminars for the basics of color and gloss measurement and how to test physical properties of paint and coatings from wet to dry. Every month, different topics on various instruments are covered free of charge by BYK-Gardner team of experts.

With 10+ successful webinars already held during 2022, we invite you to attend the last three exciting WEBseminars scheduled to take place in November and December. Below is an overview of upcoming webinars, and registration page for each of them.

Film thickness and adhesion of coatings

Controlling film thickness helps to save material costs and ensures that color, appearance and physical properties of your specific application are maintained. The adhesive strength of a coating is of particular importance for the mechanical behavior as well as for the corrosion protection.

Agenda for this webinar is:

  • Definition of film thickness
  • Measurement methods for determining wet and dry film thickness:
    Destructive and non-destructive tests
  • How to measure and evaluate adhesion properties
  • ASTM and ISO standards and their most important recommendations
  • Which instrument is the best for your application?

This WEBseminar will take place on Wednesday, November 9, 2022, at 15:00 CET. To register for this webinar, follow this link.

Color control & NEW prediction of color stability

The spectrophotometer spectro2guide represents the next step in the evolution of color measurement. Just like its predecessor, color and 60° gloss are measured simultaneously. Completely new is the quantification of fluorescence by measuring like a fluorimeter!

The combination of a spectrophotometer with a fluorimeter opens up completely new perspectives to control color quality and guarantee color stability over years – objective measurement results now and in the future!

Agenda for this webinar is:

  • How to measure color and gloss and what is the interaction between the two?
  • What is needed to be able to use digital standards?
  • What is fluorescence and how can it be measured with the spectro2guide?
  • Quantification of fluorescent light and prediction of color fading with the new indices DFl and DE zero.

This WEBseminar will take place on Wednesday, November 23, 2022, at 15:00 CET. To register for this webinar, follow this link.

Effect colors – what do you see and how does it match your color results?

Visual outdoor color perception is influenced by varying environmental conditions. It is known that the sun position is dependent on the geographical location and varies from day to day and season to season. In addition, the size of an observer, the distance to a vehicle and the mounting position of add-on parts influence the viewing angle. Many parameters need to be specified when comparing to instrumental results.

Agenda for this webinar is:

  • Which are the influencing factors for visual evaluation of effect finishes?
  • How are they defined in international standards?
  • What is used to evaluate lightness, color flop and sparkle?
  • Which are the influencing factors of outdoor evaluation of vehicles?
  • How can different lighting and viewing angles be simulated?

This WEBseminar will take place on Wednesday, December 7, 2022, at 15:00 CET. To register for this webinar, follow this link.
