Lubrizol Engineered Polymers and Bjørn Thorsen A/S, their Nordics distributor, will be presenting high-performing Bio TPU™ brands at the upcoming Plastteknik fair in Malmö, on the 8th and 9th of May 2019.

Bio TPU by Lubrizol is a revolutionary line of bio-based* thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) that is made with renewable-sourced material. This line of products comprises the brands Pearlthane™ ECO and Pearlbond™ ECO.

Pearlthane ECO provides TPU solutions for molded and extruded end-applications, showing the same performance and benefits as traditional petroleum-based TPU. Most Pearlthane ECO grades show an injected density reduction between 2 to 5%. This is always an advantage for many applications where weight is an important parameter (i.e. transport-related applications). Pearlthane ECO solutions also show high-performing characteristics of standard TPU like transparency, durability and flexibility, as well as very good thermal, chemical and hydrolysis resistance. The portfolio can range in hardness from 82 Shore A to 55 Shore D.

Pearlbond ECO finds its application in formulations of reactive polyurethane hot-melts (HMPUR) used in furniture, automotive, bookbinding, and footwear, as well as in textile coatings for shoe stiffeners (toe puffs & counters).
