We are pleased to announce that Bjørn Thorsen has extended the collaboration with Sun Chemical in the Nordics, by taking over distribution of former BASF Colors and Effects (C&E) portfolio, as of January 1st, 2023.

Sun Chemical acquisition of C&E Legacy Portfolio

Sun Chemical, member of DIC Corporation, acquired BASF’s global pigments business, known as BASF Colors & Effects, in June 2021, and has subsequently reviewed their sales channels in different regions to find the best fit. This acquisition broadened Sun Chemical’s portfolio as a global manufacturer of pigments, including those for electronic displays, cosmetics, coatings, inks, plastics, and specialty applications, by creating a world-class pigments supplier that offers customers an even wider range of versatile solutions. The company’s pigment portfolio will offer broader product categories related to effect pigments, inorganic pigments, organic pigments, specialty dyes, and pigment preparations.

Bjørn Thorsen takes over distribution

Bjørn Thorsen has been honored the task of taking over the business in the Nordic region and will continue to provide the best possible support to existing and new customers in Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania. This opportunity strengthens Bjørn Thorsen’s portfolio of pigment products in the Coatings, Adhesives & Sealants (CAS) and Advanced Polymers business units.

“We are excited to expand our partnership with Sun Chemical and to also include the C&E portfolio, offering a complete range of pigments from a global leader” says Jonny Lönnerberg, Business Sales Manager for CAS Business Unit at Bjørn Thorsen A/S. “This new addition complements our current offering and enhances both our cross-technology product portfolio and position as a leading specialty chemicals distributor” continues Jonny Lönnerberg.

A dedicated taskforce has been created and necessary resources have been allocated to ensure a smooth and successful transition at new and existing customers. For more information, please contact Jonny Lönnerberg at jl@bjorn-thorsen.com.
