As it aims to bridge the products and services gap in unfilled market needs between principals and customers in target industries, Bjørn Thorsen A/S group (BTG) seeks to establish global partnerships with companies whose complementary capabilities can support this mission.  In doing so, BTG has been building a “Perfect Circle” of partners and collaborators over the last couple of years, gathering players from different segments of the value chain to jointly create portfolios of innovative solutions for diverse applications.

The first meeting of the “Perfect Circle” of BTG partners and collaborators took place in Wuhan, China, on November 6, 2019.

On this day, members of this select group got together, at the ARTOP Design Group Co., Ltd. (ARTOP) headquarters in Wuhan, to discuss emerging technologies, address recycling-related challenges and introduce new sustainable thermoplastic vulcanizate (TPV) materials, now belonging to Celanese, targeted at a variety of applications in diverse markets, such as automotive, industrial and consumer.  One of the key objectives of this joint session was to explore new ways to boost ExxonMobil sales of Santoprene™ TPV based on compounding solutions in China.

Participants included the Managing Director and COO from Bjørn Thorsen A/S, the Managing Director, designers and other representatives from ARTOP, the CEO and Market Development Manager from Chongqing Techxanadu Industrial Co., Ltd. (TechXanadu) as well as key Marketing managers for Industrial & Consumer markets from ExxonMobil Chemical Services (Shanghai) Co., Ltd.

Among many important things, BTG took the opportunity to introduce the new production and commercialization joint venture in China, Nordic Grafting & Compound Solutions Co., Ltd. (NGCS). NGCS is a partnership between BTG affiliates, Nordic Grafting Company A/S (NGC) and Customized Compound Solutions A/S (CCS), together with TechXanadu.  NGCS is scoped to produce advanced specialty compounds and compatibilizers targeted at replacing non-recyclable thermoset solutions with recycled thermoplastic solutions by leveraging the expertise, capabilities and market access of its co-owners.
