Matting agents are used to reduce gloss and add structure to surface coatings. Furthermore, they are used to increase ink reception or for other special functions.
Silica gels are efficient matting agents with or without surface treatment. They are highly porous materials with tight particle size control suited for surface coatings.
Polymer beads are efficient matting agents for applications where chemical and mechanical properties are needed.
Waxes can be of a natural, semisynthetic or synthetic origin. They are mainly surface active and give efficient matting or silky gloss appearance. They also have added influence on scratch, slip and antiblockage.
Aerogels are very fine silica with superior porosity and surface area. They provide very high matting efficiency and are suitable in low gloss and high light diffusion applications, such as 100% UV systems.
