History

Bjørn Thorsen A/S was established in Denmark in 1952 as a traditional agency/distributor company, representing a number of rosin, resin and vegetable oil manufacturers.

During the 1960's and 1970's the company's raw material product line was developed to comprising practically all sorts of chemical raw materials to the industry. The activities of Bjørn Thorsen A/S were also extended to the other Scandinavian countries, and until the late 1980's the company enjoyed the general growth in all segments of the chemical industry.

By 1990 it was recognized that the trade called for specialization and consolidation, and Bjørn Thorsen A/S chose to focus on fewer areas of activity in the chemical trade in the Nordic countries, exclusively from the base in Copenhagen.

For the last decade we have optimized our portfolio and today we like to think of ourselves as a highly specialized raw material supplier to specific segments of the chemical industry.
Among our main assets is a highly skilled organization with many years of experience that enables us to conceive a raw material, not only from a technical point of view, but also to see and understand the general process from raw material to end-user product, thus creating new possibilities for all parties.

At present Bjørn Thorsen A/S has approximately 20 employees to cover the Nordic area. Our head office is still in Copenhagen, but today we also have sales people at local offices.
