Coating
Bjørn Thorsen has since its founding been committed to servicing and supplying the coating industry with raw materials and additives for use in decorative coating, industrial paints, wood and architectural coatings.
From ASK we supply the Necowel® series, which are solvent free alkydemulsions water based coating resins for various applications. Necowel® is suited to replace conventional solvent based systems and allow the development of environmental friendly trendsetting products.
From Byk Chemie/Byk Cera we supply additives and waxes of the Byk series to provide special properties (e.g. improved surface slip, UV stability, abrasion and hydrophobicity) and to avoid defects (e.g. foam bubbles, poor levelling, flocculation, sedimentation), which cannot easily be achieved by other coating raw materials.
From Cabot and Bentec we supply rheology modifiers of the Cab-O-Sil® series and Viscogel®/Laviothix® series.
The Cab-O-Sil series are fumed silica, free-flowing powdered products available in untreated and treated grades to improve flow properties, rheology control and sag control.
Viscogel /Laviothix are bentonite/organoclay used extensively as gelling agent- /thixotropic thickeners in a wide variety of solvent and water based coatings.
From SNCZ, Sachtleben and Cabot we supply inorganic pigments and specialty carbon blacks for various coating formulations to provide pigmentation, UV protection and conductivity (e.g. Titanium Dioxide, Zinc Sulfide, Barium Sulfate, anticorrosive pigments, Chromates & Zinc Phosphates and Carbon Blacks.)
From Posichem and PC-Resin we supply Acrylates, PU dispersions and Oligomers of the PC-Mull® and Photocryl® series.
PC-Mull dispersions are for various applications, like furniture-, parquet-, metal- and plastic coatings recognized by the following parameters: high abrasion, chemical resistance, adhesion and solvent free.
Photocryl are 100% oligomers or dispersions for UV coating.
From Silysiamont we are supplying a broad range of precipitated silica, matting agents of the Silysia® series.
Silysia grades have very narrow Gauss curves and would be suitable for various applications (e.g. UV and clear lacquers.)
